Nephrite in the BSSM anime
Powers
Nephrite was very knowledgeable about the stars and their orientation and used the stars to determine the best choice of victim. He could also apparently tap into them directly for energy. He would release this energy as swirling blasts of pale blue energy from his hand, energy spheres which would bombard his opponent, and in his powerful Starlight Attack, in tremendous bursts. He could teleport, fly, generate force blasts, drain humans of their energy, and use illusions to warp space to confuse his opponents and disorient them. He commanded various youma and could place these youma in objects such as tennis rackets or violins to steal energy. He could also create a shadow-like youma from his body that he used to spy on people from a distance. He also demonstrated superb athletic skills, skill in hand-to-hand combat, swordsmanship (with a sword he could conjure), stamina, agility, and great strength. He also created the Black Starlight Crystal, which he used to read the stars more clearly.

Nephrite in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon
History
Nephrite was one of the Shitennou, who were the four guardians of Prince Endymion, and were alternately known as the Four Kings or the Four Generals. The Shitennou were tricked by Queen Beryl into swearing service to her Dark Kingdom and betraying their prince and assisting in the downfall of the Moon Kingdom. This back story is mentioned in the manga and brought back up in PGSM.
Nephrite is the second of the Shitennou to be introduced. He appeared after Jadeite's death in both the manga and the anime to take over Jadeite's operations and collect energy. Previously, he was the commander of Dark Kingdom operations in North America. Later he tried to find the Silver Crystal.
Nephrite would use his knowledge of the stars to orient his energy collection efforts towards a single person who could produce abundant amounts of energy. His famous phrase was "the stars know everything."
In the manga, Nephrite's part in the story is very short.
In the anime, Nephrite was confident and he took his job seriously, but he could be independent and disobedient, liking to make his own path. Nonetheless, he was favored by Beryl. He posed as a millionaire named Sanjouin Masato (or Maxfield Stanton, if you're watching DIC's dub) and passed among humans in this way. He had a rivalry with Zoicite.
In the live-action show, Nephrite is very loyal to Queen Beryl, and has a rivalry with Jadeite and develops a relationship with Ami/Dark Mercury.

Nephrite in Bishoujo Senshi Seera Myu
Fall
In the manga, Nephrite is brought down by Sailor Jupiter after he tries to use Motoki to kill Makoto. (As an aside, each of the Shitennou is brought down in the manga by the Senshi he is drawn with in Takeuchi's picture in act 13). All of the Shitennou appear later in the manga as stones that Mamoru keeps, his Guardians' spirits advising, strengthening, and protecting him this way, though only Kunzite speaks to him.
In the anime, Nephrite had a great rivalry with Zoicite, which ultimately causes his death. Nephrite met Osaka Naru while he is posing as Sanjouin Masato. Naru fell in love with him, and at first he used her for energy and to try to find the Silver Crystal and learn Sailor Moon's identity. However, after Naru saved him from Sailor Moon's attack, he began to have feelings for her. Later he saved Naru from a youma, but he didn't understand that and was surprised that he did it. After that Zoicite had his youma kidnap Naru and Nephrite rushed to save her. He saved Naru from the youma, but died in Naru's arms from the injuries he sustained.
In the tokusatsu, Nephrite is killed by Queen Beryl as an example of what will become of all of the Shitennou should Endymion not join her. He was later revived and later worked for Motoki at Crown.
