about murrow

Edward R. Murrow is the most distinguished and renowned figure in American broadcast journalism. His broadcasts during World War II were followed by millions of listeners in the US and Canada. Murrow also pioneered television news broadcasting, and a series of reports on his program See It Now about Senator Joseph McCarthy helped lead to McCarthy’s censure and downfall. By the time that Murrow left broadcast journalism in 1961, his peers were already referring to a “Murrow legend and tradition” that endures to this day of courage, integrity, social responsibility, and journalistic excellence, though ironically these were the very characteristics that forced Murrow to leave television journalism. PBS.org writes of him that “to this day his name is synonymous with courage and perseverance in the search for truth,” and that, more than anything else I can say, is why I opened this fanlisting. If you admire Murrow and what he stood for, please join!

about fanlistings

A fanlisting is a place for fans to come together and declare their love for something, thereby building the biggest listing from around the world of fans of that particular thing. It all started with fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and has grown from there. The headquarters for this effort is at the sister networks of TFL and TAFL.

This should be a gimmie - I'm not Edward R. Murrow and I didn't know him.  Heck, he died before I was born.  I just admire the legacy he has left us and wish journalists were more like him today.

I made the layout.  The background is from Squidfingers and I grabbed the picture of Murrow here.
