The Story

Kohei, a freelance photographer who specializes in taking pictures of the supernatural, travels to Germany with his cousin Seiji and his co-worker Hiromi. There Kohei meets Hazuki, a young female vampire. She feeds upon his blood, making a blood pact with him that should make him her obedient slave. It does not. With help from Seiji, Kohei does manage to make her wish come true - to free her from the castle, after which she disappears.

Before she leaves the castle, she takes great care to leave a locket there, a locket which can unlock the alternate personality - Luna - which her family has pressed upon her.

Kohei cannot forget her, but is shocked to find her at his home when he returns to Japan. She claims that Kohei is now her slave since she fed upon his blood. Kohei refuses to be her slave and acts in a very un-slave-like manner. She tells him that she has come back to Japan to search for her mother. Kohei's grandfather, Ryuuhei, agrees to let Hazuki live with them while she is in Japan.

Kohei and Hazuki fight a lot, especially when she becomes petulant and demanding, but their relationship progresses.

Count von Kinkell sends his slave, Elfriede, to bring Luna back to the castle. Elfriede and Hazuki fight, but Elfriede is careful not to actually injure Hazuki. Observing that Kohei does not act as Hazuki's slave, she deduces him to be an Ama Lamia, a vampire lover. Such a being cannot be controlled by a vampire and, moreover, drinking the blood of one will free a slave from a master vampire's control. When Kohei asks Elfriede to pose for photography for him, she is quick to use the opportunity to drink his blood and free herself from Kinkell's control.

Free of Kinkell's control, Elfriede sides with Hazuki, Kohei and his family and helps them defeat Kinkell. Ryuuhei invites her to live with them as well, and she confesses her tragic past to him. Kinkell was her father, and he killed her aunt and uncle whom she loved. Elfriede and Ryuuhei begin a romantic relationship after this.

Despite wardings that Ryuuhei and Elfriede place upon the house, it is destroyed when they are attacked by a powerful vampire. Ryuuhei and Elfriede hold it off long enough for Kohei and Hazuki to escape to Yayoi's residence in the country, where Kohei begins training in spiritual powers so that he can protect Hazuki.
